Gender Pay Gap Report

Posted in Employment, Responsibilities

Irish companies employing 250 people or more were required to publish their first gender pay gap report online by 1 December 2022.

For businesses with less than 250 employees it is advisable that an internal pay gap report 2022 be prepared so that inequities can be resolved over time.

The Gender Pay Gap Information Act 2021 outlines 11 specific data points that must be dealt with so companies should ensure that:

  • they know what is required including who is included in the count, the timeframe, and what is ‘ordinary pay’ and ‘remuneration’
  • they gather all relevant data needed for the calculations
  • calculations are completed by a competent individual
  • the assumptions and judgments used are recorded.

As  calculations will need to be done annually the 2022 gender pay gap number will be the baseline against which any progress will be measured.

Once the report has been prepared companies should explain the reason for any gender pay gap and outline realistic measures that can be taken to close the gap.
