Latest Email Scam

Please be aware of fraudulent emails purporting to come from the Revenue Commissioners.

The emails are seeking personal information from taxpayers in relation to a tax refund. These fraudulent emails are headed “Notice of Tax Return” and could potentially look something like this:

“Dear Sir / Madam,

I am sending this email to announce: After the last annual calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax return of:

EUR 371.91

To receive your return, you need to create a Government gateway account.

 Please download and complete the attached form

The contents of this email and any attachments are confidential and as applicable, copyright in these is reserved to Revenue – Irish Tax & Customs. Unless expressly authorized by us,any further dissemination or distribution of this email or its attachments is prohibited.”

Please note that any such emails that you may have received did not issue from Revenue and should be simply deleted. The Revenue Commissioners will never email taxpayers seeking such personal information.

Anyone awaiting a tax refund should contact their local Revenue Office to check the status of the refund.

Anyone who has already provided personal information in response to these fraudulent emails should contact their bank immediately.
