Covid-19 Business Aid Scheme (CBAS)

Posted in Good Advice

A new scheme called the COVID-19 Business Aid Scheme (CBAS) has just been launched. It is aimed at firms who to date have not been eligible for the COVID-19 Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS).

You can claim the CBAS if you are a business that has not shut your premises completely to the public but you have been affected negatively by COVID-19 and your turnover is down by at least 75%. So, for example, if you are a caterer or wholesaler who supplies to restaurants and you are still open but in a very limited way you should qualify for a grant of €8,000.

You will apply for this grant online via your local authority. The government is still finalising details of  the scheme and it will open for applications shortly,  we will include further details as soon as they are announced.

  1. Has there been any update on this scheme yet. The government should go further than the 8k as this will not keep my business afloat. I am a fish wholesaler that supply fish products solely to the hotel & restaurant sector. Because all my customers have been closed by the government my business has been forced to close. The overheads are still the same. I believe that my business & businesses that find themselves in a similar situation should be entitled to the CRSS or at least an ongoing payment after the 8k. Would love to know what others think.

    1. Gary,

I hope your shutdown is only temporary and best of luck when the economy opens up. I anticipate high consumer demand so fingers crossed.
